Hi ThomasIn 2012 I printed/bought 53lbs of Ada books. I studied and studied but I didn't accomplish much and I moved onto GnuCOBOL in January 2013 and I have been very happy with it since.
However I do have a soft spot for Ada and I think it's a great language. I was jut thinking about it today and out of the blue I wanted to post about it.
While C is dangerous and Ada is safe, C is certainly useful. I think snobbery against C and a failure to come to grips with the situation is hurting Ada. I haven't looked at the source for some time but I believe the Ada ncurses binding was written around or before the US department of defence dropped their Ada mandate and interest in Ada took a major hit.
It was a while back when I tried to use the Ada binding but the thing that discouraged me was that I could not find any examples on the internet of it's use.
Just a suggestion..... have you ever thought about reworking the Ada API so that it just pretty much just matched the C one? Is it possible that there just isn't enough of a following to support a separate API?
Just a thought.... I am not trying to criticize in any way, I hope this email won't come across that way.
Thanks again for your tireless work with ncurses. Have a great day-Patrick
