The bug report doesn't mention the version of ncurses (though there was
a related bug fix a while back), and downloading ncmpc to inspect it, I
see it's linking against libncurses rather than libncursesw.
Looking at ncurses changelog, the related-bug fix I recall seems to be this
20070512
+ add 'O' (wide-character panel test) in ncurses.c to demonstrate a
problem reported by Sadrul H Chowdhury with repainting parts of
a fullwidth cell.
Odds are it's not a problem with ncurses.
