Hm. Anyway, I just applied all patches up to 20070908, and, low
and behold! problem gone.

... for the hell of it I recompiled with the 20070714 rollup, and
for whatever reason, can't reproduce the problem. Very sorry for
the noise, probably I had set some flags wrong, even though I
tried several times, oh well.
