To tell you the truth: I have no idea how or why ncurses uses gpm.
I want to use ncurses to link code that uses curses, for example the
zsh.  Obviously, zsh will also work without gpm support in ncurses.
But what about mutt, for example?

What does the gpm support in ncurses do?
