I propose a new terminal description for use on linux consoles.
The problem I have encountered is this:
My console is working in UTF-8 mode, but some programs need to start in
non-unicode mode under _ luit _. It works fine, except for that borders
and frames are drawn with wrong charactes. It is caused by the fact that
the standard "linux" terminal description issues graphical characters
using codepage cp437 (sometimes referred to as "straight to font",
although it is not this). But _ luit _ does not process cp437.
This problem will be solved if we use graphics from VT100 graphical
character set, just as it is done in xterm. _ luit _ is aware of VT100
graphical charactes mode, so the frames and borders look OK.
The terminal description (linux-vt) is in the attachment
