I'm testing 2.52, for several reasons. But I have no intention of distributing
a configure.in/aclocal.m4 which cannot be used to generate comparable configure
scripts with 2.13 and 2.52. The main reason for testing 2.52 is that there
are changes to make it simpler to get a workable configure script on OS/2.
I have to add a workaround for the botched cygwin-specific use of 'test' in
2.52, but aside from that, I was able to configure/build vile last week with a
similar script. (I won't have time to try ncurses in the same environment for
a few days, but will work on the 'test' stuff at that time, and probably update
my autoconf patch then -- for some reason the autoconf maintainers are aware of
the problem but chose not to address it).
