Hi I am learning linux and after installing j2sdk1.4.1 I think it added new fonts or changed the system and now (screen,X,GDM) whatever does not work I get the error message:
According to/var/run/gdm.pid, gdm was already running (XXX)
but seems to have been murdered mysteriously.

the screen then flickers as the display manager fails to load?
the process then repeats itself
I hear by updating gdm this will be fixed. SO I got the latest
gdm I could find and went to install it but it said this(look in the attachment)
basically saying I need to install pkgconfig first so I did this but it is not
working(look at attachment) any ideas of solutions starting with the first problem

( i have supplied some system data as attachments also I am using rh7.0 on a dual boot win98 pIII 128mb ram 533 mhz with geforce256 graphics card)
