using:

        \once \override Score.SpanBar.transparent=##t
        \once \override Score.BarLine.transparent=##t
        \bar "|"
or:
        \once \override Score.SpanBar.stencil=#point-stencil
        \once \override Score.BarLine.stencil=#point-stencil
        \bar "|"

seems to work better.
