Tried that, no different.

Hmm, good question (although you didn't reply all! I'll forward this
back to the list). Nobody else (except Jan Nieuwenhuizen) has replied to
this thread, which could mean a lot of things. If anyone else is having
issues, I'd appreciate a note telling me so. I feel very lonely... ;-)

Elisp... incantations so mysterious, and its ways so unforgiving.

STOP PRESS!!!! Something just happened.

I fired up emacs-snapshot and opened
/usr/local/lilypond/usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/lilypond-mode.el to run a
traceback. I set the debugger on and evaluated the buffer. There were no
errors reported. I tried M-x LilyPond-mode, and guess what--I have
LilyPond-Mode!

This suggests I have a problem with my Emacs load-path somewhere
(assuming, of course, the running debugger was irrelevant). St Ignucius
has certainly blessed me this day, but now requires me to undertake a
pilgrimage to places dark and mysterious.

To put it more succinctly, where do I start fixing this one?
