I disagree in this particular case. The file 'whois/tld_serv_list'
is preprocessed into a file, which is included by 'whois/whois.c',
thus hard cording the provided information. This also implies that
an misnamed server name will result in lookup failure for the
corre- sponding domain, thus being in all respects equal to a bug
in code.
Based on this observation, I made the decision that it be important
to document the changes I did apply.
As I said, you don't have to :-) But if you want, by all means!

I took the adress you provided me with in December,
http://www.iana.org/domains/root/db/
then spent close to five hours in examining most domain entries and
invoking 'host whois.whatever' in order to verify the existence of
a claimed server. This work was conducted using an Android link, so
suffered from occasional teardowns and other anomalies.
Jikes, grand work though!
