Well, there are spam filters on GNU servers.

Spam filters as in tagging/removing mail automaticly, ala spamassasin.
Moderators don't count. (The GNU machines run spam filtering on
non-list mails, but they don't run it at all on mailing lists to my
knowledge, nor do I think it is possible to enable it)

Mailman has one, but the list needs moderators if they are used.
However, it is easy to set the "Must posts have list named in
destination (to, cc) field?" to yes (it's in privacy
options->recepient filters). I understood that that would take out
   a lot of the spam.

I took a quick look at my inbox, and I don't think it would make any
noticable difference. Out of about 40 spams, 5 where without cc/to to
bug-hurd.

We don't care if we don't see mail which has bug-hurd in the Bcc:,
   do we?

Personally, I don't think we do care. Don't see much use behind Bcc
to a mailing list. But since from the looks wouldn't do much, and it
would required moderators to weed out things once in a while, I don't
think it is worth it.
