To clarify this query, the files I was asking about are those that are
not explicitly included in the the GSL GCC makefiles.

Files that are not included in such makefiles could either be (a)
includes in other source code files, or (b) files that should be
included in the makefiles but have been overlooked or deliberately
omitted for some reason.

I needed to clarify this because I maintain a GSL build with Visual
Studio that does not use the GCC build system.  As a result it picks up
all *.c files as files that need compiling although some don't since
they are include files with a *.c extension.
