Problem using /sbin/grub-md5crypt

Hi All

I am using Redhat Linux 9.0 which has GRUB installed a the boot loader. I
want to take user-input and pass it to /sbin/grub-md5crypt, but
/sbin/grub-md5crypt does not take input using
$echo "mypass" | /sbin/grub-md5crypt

Do I have any option other than taking the source for this binary and
re-compiling it ? If yes , then wher do I get this source from ?
