Can you see the kernel starting to uncompress? If yes, grub's job has
finished *correctly* long time before that. I'd suspect that the kernel
you have is for a different arch e.g. is a 686 kernel and the Lifebook
is 586? Try using a network card to do install via network...
Bottom line, it might NOT be a grub issue at all.
