new manual for GRUB users |

Hi All,
I started to rewrite the manual again. In the current documentation,
the GRUB manual is a single file but consists of three independent
manuals actually. I thought this was a good design when I wrote it,
but I soon realized that this was a mistake, since the structure is
complicated and not easy to read.
Therefore, I'm reorganizing the structure, so the new manual is
divided into two files: one for GRUB users and one for GRUB
hackers. For now, I've rewritten only the user manual. It is avaiable
from the CVS and named "grub-new.texi". Because it is not completed,
it is not built or distributed by default. So, to read it, you need to
format it yourself (e.g. cd docs && makeinfo grub-new.texi).
Here are some notes about the current status (the same notes are
attached to the end of the user manual):
Some notes:
This is the second attempt to rewrite the manual. The status is
mostly complete, but I need to check the spelling by ispell, and add
more indices. Perhaps I also have to let some English native speakers to
proofread this manual through. My English is syntactically almost
perfect, but sometimes (often?) awful in the nuance. Hehe, I can't be an
English poet for now.
Because I haven't written ``the GRUB internals'' yet, the cross
references to the manual are broken. I will have to write it based on
the old ``GRUB Programmers Manual''. Don't forget that I should rewrite
the chapter about Partition Table from scratch.
Rename this file to "grub.texi", once this manual is finished. Don't
forget that it is necessary to change the argument to @settitle.
Because I have rewritten many parts, there should be many mistakes as
well. Please send feedback to bug-grub, if you can.
Regards,
Okuji
