Not much to tell, I guess - it's the Debian packaged version of latest
released grub (0.5.96.1).

I understand, but I thought I was including everything relevant. The
version number was an incorrect omission, certainly, but there's not much
else to say about it (drive geometry, etc., shouldn't have anything to do
with an Oops in the net code when I boot a kernel).
