Thanks for the report.
That happens when you have not installed the pcre devel. libraries.
On a fedora/Red Hat-based system, do this:

    yum install pcre-devel

Once they're installed, you should be warning-free on
a sufficiently modern system, even with --enable-gcc-warnings.
