Here's something I've said in a previous thread:

  "I think that, given the current freeze we've
   been in for some time, any motion (not even
   necessarily proven progress) is good..."

but then it was followed by

  "... and we should go ahead and apply the
   long-in-waiting Red Hat patches."

Either way, I'd like to see the Red Hat/Fedora
patches applied soon (either before or just after
a release).

Recall that we first had agreed to start applying
them, but Claudio asked to be given a while
for him to come up with something even better.
Unfortunately, he's gone from this project,
but this means that our best avenue is now to
apply these patches as is at first (as opposed
to reworking them).  They have been tested by
quite a user community.

There are also bugs such as

that could be closed right now as well because
a complete solution is available to them.
