What happens if you run gnome-terminal or xterm -u8 and run the
script?  Do you see boxes only or something that looks like
Arabic script?

Heh, that's my package.  You don't need to run bicon.  Bicon does
bidirectional reordering and contextual joining.  Not needed to
verify the bug.  Without bicon you simply see the Arabic left to
right and not joind.  I've attached an screenshot showing the
bug.

Thanks.  Like I said, try simply running gnome-terminal or xterm
-u8.  About font, humm, ok, the 10x20 X11 font has good Arabic
glyphs, but many distros strip it off.  This one has them:

As long as the bug goes, simply redirecting the output to a file
shows the difference too.
