Yes. extern is a "C"ism. I'm not sure if the code you quoted is even valid
C++.
Could you please take the time to look at how exactly "extern" keyword must
behave under those conditions? Then, it would be possible to reach at the
cause of the error. (Any maybe g++ developers are reading this, too)
