Follow-up Comment #1:

You shouldn't swap nodes between documents (the underlying libxml2 has
problems with it), but it shouldn't crash.
I've updated the documentation to mention this and (hopefully) corrected the
code to raise an exception rather than crashing.
Please could you test this?
