Please could you provide more info about exactly what goes wrong with the apps ...
I have downloaded, built and run MPDCon and EdenMath and both start up and appear to run normally (though I don't know for sure what 'normally' is as I'm not familiar with these apps).
Could there be an operating system specific issue? I'm running gnu/ linux (debian unstable) ... what system are you having problems on?
