Follow-up Comment #3, bug #14635 (project gnustep):

I removed the core source subdir as well as moved my old gnustep install
away, using 
gcc (GCC) 3.3.3 (NetBSD nb3 20040520)
as always I reocnfigure and reinstall make afresh and then attempt to build
-base. I configure with no options. The build still fails with a CVS version
of the 16th Oct.

NSConcreteNumber.m:618: warning: cast increases required alignment of target
type
gmake[2]: *** No rule to make target `Additions/static_obj/subproject.o',
needed by `static_obj/libgnustep-base_s.a'.  Stop.
gmake[1]: *** [libgnustep-base.all.library.variables] Error 2
