I still believe that its better to set these during compilation. And that we all have a consensus on how to set up these paths for each and every platform GNUstep is going to run. And we use the path utilities to hide these details from the app. In short no more hard coding of paths.

I spent an evening looking into getting gnustep-base to build w/o gnustep-make (looking at gnustep-make as a "dev package" in this scenario). I like the idea of the GNUstep libraries paying more attention to whatever prefix was originally configured when gnustep-make is installed. Just doing that wouldn't solve my issues, but it is a great idea.

... and mod'ng gnustep-base is beyond my skill/time ratio, atm. ;-)

Im so frustrated by the chicken and egg situation im experiencing with my Init.app and Login.app that im going to do just that ASAP.
