Another option is to pick one of those files, time.h say, and try another
idiom with it. That way we can gain experience with whether a simpler
idiom will do.
I'd say the three hardest will be time.h, stdio.h, and signal.h, since
they've been around the longest. I'll take a look at time.h and see
how bad it is....
