Oops.  Don't you hate it when you start a mail, get sidetracked, and
only get back to it a month later... :-/  Sorry about that.

Yes, but IIRC that was because I could not get into contact with the bug
reporter.  Its mailer systematically rejected my mails (from more than
one location).

Sure.  My position is that I want as little changes to branch-1-5
Libtool as necessary.  Cleanup to HEAD is fine if nondisruptive.

I was thinking this as well.  I don't have much experience with
freestanding environments.  Is it likely (in practice) to have math
functions like sin, cos, available but not math.h?  Similarly, is it
likely to have string functions but not string.h?
