I think gnubg already has enough features for a 1.0 release : I know
new and interesting ideas pops up every day (and night), but ...
The fact that there's no timescale shouldn't be a reason for not
having a 1.0 somewhere in the future.
The only items of my 1.0 release wish list would be :
- a manual (witha reasonable level of detail of the technical
stuff since, as somebody said, the target user is a backgammon
player more than a novice). I know it's a pain, but sooner or
later it has to be done ...
- a review of the GUI, the only weak point of gnubg, imho.
What about a main window with tabs :
* PLAY TAB :large board, match infos (players, score, dice,
match-pos, ID etc.)
* EVAL/ANALYSIS TAB : smaller board, game record, move/double analysis
* THEORY TAB(s) : race theory, gammon values/windows, METs etc.
* ...
It shouldn't be a huge task, since everything is more or less developped
(but scatterred across the multiple windows).
MaX.
