Hmm, I can't claim I did it deliberately, since 'p' and 'w' are
separated by quite a distance on the keyboard :-)

At any rate, I've no objections on the concatenation of the position ID
and match ID. I had similar plans when I originally implemented the
match ID.

I prefer the concatenation to include some separator such as hyphen
(which is not used for neither match nor position ids), since it makes
it easy to split the IDs both for computers and humans.  It's a bit
harder for humans to count 14 chars and do the split. Introducing a
separator also allows us to drop trailing A's. On the other hand it may
not be that often you would want to split the ids.

This is a bit difficult as the GUI keeps a separate copy of the board
which it doesn't submit until exit edit mode.

This should be easier to fix. 

Can you create a bug report/feature request for both, so they're not
forgotten?
