Hi all,

I'm trying to build the latest snapshot (021009) on Sparc Solaris 8, and
have lots of trouble. Certainly, it's also due to my limited knowledge of Unix
programing.

intl and lib compile fine. In doc I get problems:

make[2]: Entering directory `/home/c/curlbbcb/bin/lib/t/gnubg/doc'
cd . \
  && /bin/bash /home/c/curlbbcb/bin/lib/t/gnubg/missing --run makeinfo   \
       `echo gnubg.texi | sed 's,.*/,,'`
Making info file `gnubg.info' from `gnubg.texi'.
gnubg.texi:49: No matching address@hidden ifnottex'.
gnubg.texi:76: Unmatched address@hidden'.
gnubg.texi:305: Unknown command `verbatim'.
gnubg.texi:315: Unmatched address@hidden'.
gnubg.texi:320: Unknown command `verbatim'.
gnubg.texi:324: Unmatched address@hidden'.
gnubg.texi:668: itemize requires an argument: the formatter for @item.
./faq.texi:182: itemize requires an argument: the formatter for @item.
./faq.texi:204: itemize requires an argument: the formatter for @item.
./faq.texi:211: itemize requires an argument: the formatter for @item.
./faq.texi:293: Unknown command `option'.
./faq.texi:293: Misplaced {.
./faq.texi:293: Misplaced }.
./faq.texi:293: Unknown command `option'.
./faq.texi:293: Misplaced {.
./faq.texi:293: Misplaced }.

.. and so on. I have makeinfo (GNU texinfo 3.12) 1.68.

I skipped this problem by editing Makefile and removing doc from SUBDIRS and
DIST_SUBDIRS. Is this the right way (for me) to do this?

Finally, compile fails with:

sound.c: In function `play_audio_file':
sound.c:543: storage size of `ait' isn't known
sound.c:582: `I_SETSIG' undeclared (first use in this function)
sound.c:582: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once
sound.c:582: for each function it appears in.)
sound.c:582: `S_OUTPUT' undeclared (first use in this function)
make[2]: *** [sound.o] Error 1

Btw, soundcard.h is (of course?) not present.

Do you think GNUbg is portable enough to compile on Solaris? Or could you
make it to do so?

TIA,

Holger
