Bug#244215: gettext: /usr/bin/msginit reports java error (fwd)

Hello.

A long time ago I received this from the Debian bug system.

By searching in google, this seems to be the result of the Debian
gettext package not providing /usr/share/gettext/libintl.jar yet
(I plan to fix this some day by using jikes-classpath).

However, I still don't have libintl.jar in my system and I am unnable
to reproduce this. So: under which conditions this message is shown?
What do I need to reproduce it?

msginit from gettext reports a really strange java exception, although the
gettext package doesn't depend on java. Though, apart from the message,
it seems to work fine, as far as i can tell.

A translation team exists for your language (en) but not for
your local dialect (en_US).  You can either join the existing
translation team for en or create a new translation team for en_US.
