Given a file with say a mixture of upper case and lower case text, I found that
cat file.txt | awk '/^[a-z]/ {print $0}'
incorrectly returns not only those entries beginning with a lower case
letter, but also upper case ones as well.
Red Hat Linux 7.3 with 2.4.18 kernel
gawk-3.1.0-4
This problem was not the case on my older Red Hat 7.0 running gawk-3.0.6-1
