The same source should work on both 32- and 64-bit systems; all you
have to do is compile it with the proper options. By default on
Solaris 2.6 through 8, GNU tar compiles for a 32-bit environment in
large-file mode. This is the same as Solaris tar.
(I don't know about Solaris 9 yet, but I expect it'll be similar.)
