That's also a possibility.
I think we'd need two callbacks similar to:
void (*var_attribute_added) (struct dictionary *d, int var, const char
*attr_name, void *aux);
void (*var_attribute_deleted) (struct dictionary *d, int var, const char
*attr_name, void *aux);
The "int var" parameter might not be needed, but all the other call backs
have it ...
