So, how to proceed here? Looks like duplicate bugs are piling up.
Shall I push the patch that I've posted earlier:

Alternatively, the check for the linker accepting -nopie could be
moved to the gnu*) pattern of the case statement above. (The openbsd
case would be left alone then.)
