bug#12437: 24.2; Edits to buffer does not get written to the file (Issue Does not happen in 23.x version)

There seems to be a subtle difference in the message between emacs
24.2 and emacs 23.3

When you try saving the file in emacs 24.2 the message is "Saving the file...."
But of course the changes do not get saved...

In emacs 23.3, the message is "Wrote file..."
And the changes get saved.
