Elisp manual, node Fringe Bitmaps.
This node says that a fringe display spec can have a "BITMAP symbol
identifying the bitmap", and it mentions "the built-in fringe bitmaps",
but it says nothing about what the predefined bitmap symbols are, for
those built-in fringe bitmaps.
If a user wants to use a built-in bitmap for the display spec, then s?he
needs to know what predefined bitmap symbols are available. Please list
them here or refer to "the value of variable `fringe-bitmaps'".
