Package: emacs
Version: 22.2, 22.2.50, 23.0.60

I received the attached message via the Debian bug tracking system. The
described problem is reproducible in both EMACS_22_BASE and the trunk.

The situation (Emacs does not go to the requested line number) seems to
occur whenever the file given as argument to emacsclient is already in a
buffer that is displayed but not selected.

--- Begin Message --- Subject: Bug#476931: emacs22: emacsclient may ignore line-number if called from shell-buffer Date: Sun, 20 Apr 2008 11:25:19 +0200
Package: emacs22
Version: 22.2+1-1
Severity: normal

emacsclient does not work properly in the following
situation:

*The emacsclient-server is running ("M-x server-start").
*The window is split: The upper window displays the
file "testfile", the lower window contains a shell-buffer,
 created by "M-x shell".
*call "emacsclient -n +17 testfile" in shell-buffer

Then the upper window becomes active, but the point does
NOT move to line 17, as it should.

The same happens in the tex-shell, where the right behaviour
is very helpful. The bug existed already (for the first time (??))
in 22.1+1-3.

Sorry for the delay. I've just checked in a fix into CVS, and the fix
will appear in Emacs 23.
