What build of Emacs are you running? is that a native Windows build or
a Cygwin build or an X build that you run remotely from a Unix
machine?
Please always report these details (M-x report-emacs-bug will do that
automatically for you).

Please suggest a color that is as close to the current as possible,
but still visible on your display.
Btw, did you observe this on several different LCD displays or just on
a single specific one?

That might prove impossible with some toolkits.
