 of 2001-11-28 on humu
configured using `configure  mips-sgi-irix6.5 --prefix=/usr/freeware 
--libdir=/usr/freeware/lib32 --without-gcc --with-pop --with-x 
--with-x-toolkit=motif'

Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug
and the precise symptoms of the bug:

If a user opens a new frame, and then attempts to open a new file in the
new frame, emacs crashes.  The emacs we are running was installed from a
precompiled distribution available from SGI (freeware.sgi.com).
