Please don't make feature suggestions that are awfully incomplete.
The rules for kpathsearch is that *any* empty PATH component gets
replaces by the default path, so
EMACSLOADPATH=.::junk ...
EMACSLOADPATH=:. ...
EMACSLOADPATH=.: ...
*all* will result in having the default loadpath available as well,
respectively in the middle, front and back.
