Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug
and the precise symptoms of the bug:

I used customize-face to change the foreground and background colors
while emacs was maximized.  The result was that emacs was resized
too-large, apparently by the height of the menu bar.  This is a problem
since the mode line becomes obscured due to the standard height of the
menu.
