pressing "s" for save in "todo-mode" mistakenly widens the buffer

and the precise symptoms of the bug:

Pressing "s" for save in "todo-mode" mistakenly widens the buffer.  It
should not widen.

(I like this new todo-mode, by the way; you are headed in the right
direction.)
