You are only asked about this once per directory; thereafter, Emacs
saves automatically when you kill the session (assuming that you did
the customizations as explained in the commentary to desktop.el).  If
you always save the desktop in "~/.emacs.desktop", you should be asked
about that only once in your lifetime ;-)

That doesn't seem like a good idea: some people keep a separate
desktop file in each directory, using them like kind of project
files.  This is also the reason why suggesting the buffer's default
directory is not such a preposterous idea after all.

However, an option that controls this might be a solution that will
make everybody happy.
