ediff-files3 and white-spaces

In GNU Emacs 20.4.1 (i686-pc-linux-gnu, X toolkit)
 of Fri Oct 29 1999 on tfkp02
configured using `configure --prefix=/nfs/common --libexecdir=/nfs/common/lib
--bindir=/nfs/common/lib/emacs/bin/i686-Linux --with-gcc --with-pop --with-x
--with-x-toolkit=athena'

ediff-files indicates if there are only white-space differences in a
region. Unfortunately, this feature is missing with ediff-files3.
The latter will indicate if a region is identical in two files. But
it does not indicate if there are only white-space differences
between these two files. Instead it can produce a very fancy (in
this case: confusing) hilighting, as if there were substantial
differences between these two files.
