I don't think you can win playing the name game, if you're not careful
you end up in the "Red Cross/Red Cescent" fiasco. By the time you've
ruled out words too close to other projects (Gnupedia), any sort of
military links(Alexandria), religious links (Nalanda), racial links,
sexist links, and have found a word/phrase that translates neatly into
multiple languages without giving offence in any of them, and is still
pronounceable, you're pretty much reduced to numbers (unless you want
to do a lot of dictionary checking just in case your invented word is a
rude word in another language).

"Alexandria" may not be perfect, but it's good enough...
