In Slackware we have two packages, gettext and gettext-tools.
The gettext package basically cd to the gettext-runtime subdirectory and makes
what it founds there.

FYI I append content list of both gettext and gettext-tools packages as shipped
in Slackware 14.0.
(well, more exactly the packages I recently made with the ~ stock SlackBuilds
scripts but run against gettext-018.2-rc1 source tarball)
