gdb and ia64

Hi!
I'm debugging kaffe with gdb on an ia64 machine but I get a very weird
behavior. gdb jumps up and down between surrounding instructions
almost randomly and executes them a little now and then. Execution
seems to be in order though.
gdb -v gives: GNU gdb Red Hat Linux (5.1-1)
I've compiled with gcc 3.0.4

Has anyone else seen this?
