This beta release was uploaded to Debian experimental. As can be seen
here[1] it has been build successfully (including test suite) on all
Debian architectures.

I did notice one small issue with two tests (beginfile2 and next) that
compare diagnostic messages from gawk but do not set LC_ALL. This can
cause them to fail when using a non English locale. Attached is a
patch that fixes this, although I do not know if this is the right
approach.
