I fully agree. This is why GNU CSSC (the other package I maintain)
has an extensive test suite written exclusively in Bourne shell. With
findutils, we work with what we have. I can see the utility of
Dejagnu for systems that need to be tested on embedded systems which
don't look a lot like real Unix systems, but I don't think it's the
best choice for general use.
One of these days I'll look into Autotest.
