Correct.

Generally, the binaries that are produced are for platforms for which a
development environment can be hard or expensive to obtain.

If you have a GNU/Linux system, then you likely have all the tools you need
to build your own binaries from the sources.

If you use a system with the Redhat Package Manager (RPM) as the
standard way of handling packages, you may wish to go to rpmfind.net to
get the RPM package that works for your system.

If you use debian or debian, then getting their latest CVS package via
apt-get is a good way to go. (Actually, if you are using ubuntu, then
the GUI 'Add/Remove' under Applications is probably the easier way to
get CVS.

If you are not able to find the binary distribution of CVS, building
your own version should also be easy. Download the sources, use 'tar xzf
cvs-1.11.22.tar.gz' to unpack them, go to the new cvs-1.11.22 directory
and type './configure && make && make check' as a non-privileged user.
If all works, then 'sudo make install' or something which allows you to
install the packages could be performed (or you could just copy the
src/cvs binary to the location you desire).

        Good luck,
        -- Mark
